LTI’s Transformative Journey as a Water Positive Organization
Water conservation is a collective responsibility and a non-negotiable aspect of sustainable development. Conserving water should be viewed not only as the need of the time, but as a deep-seated concern for the environment. Despite its abundance, only 4% of the water on average is considered fit for humans. As such, water remains an important natural resource that must always be protected. As one of the leaders in the IT industry, Larsen and Toubro Infotech Limited – LTI – has been certified as a water-positive company based on a third-party audit. With a positive index of 1.87, LTI is one of the top water savers.
“We take a long-term approach to water stewardship aimed at improving our performance by recognizing the importance of water. Contributing to sustainable water stewardship is a testament to the efforts our team has made over the years, and we continue this path by continuously improving this score, becoming water neutral, and planning to remain water positive,” said Anil Rander, the company’s Chief Financial Officer.
According to current reports and assessments by the IPCC, India is expected to become a water-scarce country by 2040, making the importance of water all the more important. LTI has a strong focus on water conservation, employing strategies focused on reducing water at sources, reusing water, exploring alternative water sources, and replenishing water through various structures. LTI has consistently worked on water sustainability. The organization has state-of-the-art recycling facilities, improved water efficiency, and rainwater harvesting structures. This progress has contributed significantly to the water stewardship initiative, making it successful.
